GPush - Gmail Push For iPhone!

Finally! Gmail Push for the iPhone!.. Well.. Kind of.. This is about as good as you will get as of right now for simplicity, there are other ways of achieving the same goal (Getting Gmail to push on the iPhone) but this looks to be the easiest for most users, since it is an AppStore app then it will be easily accessible to ALL iPhone users. There are other ways such as using services and setting up exchange accounts. Personally for ME if I turn Fetch on set for 1 hour (or whenever.. Supreme Preferences allows more options so I use 6 hours) it will Push new emails to my iPhone anyway! I have absolutely NO idea why or how but it works! I have tested it by sending myself emails and having others send them but it works. Anyways back to GPush

Android Perfection

I don't know if I would call this theme Android "Perfection" but it is very nice!
I have set it up on my iPhone and I am enjoying it. I have found things that need improvement. Here is my homescreen

2 methods for getting a Google Voice invite

I had been trying to get a Google Voice invite without waiting for Google themselves to send me one because I knew it might be awhile, I signed the waiting list but after that I wanted to see if I could get an invite NOW.

Google invites work as links, Google sends you a link and you can click it and register, if you do not click the link and give the link to someone else they can register.

The first way I tried to get an invite was with Twitter (TweetDeck on my iPhone) and I added 2 searches: 'want a google voice invite' and 'Google Voice'

Sometimes I see people say "Does anyone want a Googe Voice invite?" and you can @reply to them or DM (Direct Message) them and get it!

I was unsuccessful with this method but that does not mean you wont be! I did not really take the time to try.

The way I ended up going to get Google Voice was by going to eBay and looking at how much invites cost, I found a couple that were "Buy 1 and get 2 FREE" for 0.99 cents.

I was thinking OK well I dont want to pay for a service that is free but I dont want to wait and I can give the extra invites to my family and friends and then we can try Google Voice together. I ended up buying 2 so I spent $1.98 for 6 invites.

The guy I bought them from was really nice and ended up giving me 4 more invites for free! So I then had a total of 10 Google voice invites. I used 1 and gave 2 away so I now have 7 GV invites on my computer.

I am thinking of doing a twitter contest for some of the Google Voice Invites I have! Some of them I will be giving to my friends and my family who would like to try Google Voice.

Twitter contest? I think so :)

HowTo: Change Default iPhone Password ( alpine ) And Increase Security

Everybody knows that every iPhone in the world have the same username ( root ) and password ( alpine ) . Most of you learned this fact from previous tutorials/articles on FSMdotCOM when we talked about how to SSH ( Mac or Windows ) or pretty much every time when SSH was involved.

Since you can login on EVERY iPhone in the world with the same username and password, makes it easier for people to create (potential) exploits for this device. And, we had enough of that lately… Luckily for all of you that have an jailbroken device there is a quick fix for this:

1. Install Terminal from Cydia

2. Load terminal and type:

• su root
• alpine

by doing that you are logged in as root. Once you are logged in as root type this:

• passwd

when you type “passwd” and hit return it will prompt you to type your new password. You will have to type it twice.

That’s it, pretty simple huh? Of course this is not a bulletproof method, but at least you took a security measure…

Wordpress or Blogger?

Wordpress is definitely more customizable and has a hell of a lot of more options but Blogger is easy with my Google account which I use for Email, IM, Google Voice, Etc. So what should I use? I would love to actually get this blog to go somewhere, even though I stopped using it for quite some time. I also have an iPhone would like to easily edit and compose new blog posts on there. Blogger and Wordpress both can do that on the iPhone but even so. Wordpress also has plugins for iPhone versions of the web page which is nice.

What should I do?
